Foundation for Economic Freedom seeks to spread liberalism in Albania. Apart from educational objective the foundation encourages evidence based discussion in Albania by supporting researchers interested on the Albanian economy, politics and society. These results are than disseminated through workshops or printed and distributed as policy briefs.
One of the objectives of the Foundation is to promote young individuals, with strong profile and commitment in the field of economics, law, politics and social science (but not only), who come mainly from academic world. These individuals should be proponents of liberal economic theories and support the Foundation to develop more effective policies to promote these theories in various fields and sectors of the Albanian society.
FEF’s experts prepare various materials mainly focused on the improvement of economic freedom in various sectors as well as stands for lobbying regarding necessary de-regulation within the respective legal and regulatory framework.
Projects
“Gramoz Pashko” award
Gramoz Pashko is one of the most important well-known Liberal Thinkers in Albania during the post-communist transition. His vision and ideas were hardly overcome by any other Albanian Liberal Thinker during and after the post-communist transition. In order, to honor the work of professor Pashko, in addition for his thoughts, ideas and his publishing work but also as one of the most important Albanian Academics, the Foundation for Economic Freedom has created the “Gramoz Pashko” Award. This award is based on scientific work competition, from Master and Doctoral university researchers coming from Albania and abroad. Likewise, to the award, the winner will also receive the benefit of publishing the scientific research and 1,000 Euro Grant.
Tirana Forum for Economic Freedom
An annual event held at the beginning of spring in the capital Tirana. The Forum is a unique opportunity for liberal economists, thinkers and politicians to discuss major events in Albania and Europe.
Liberal Meetings in Dardha
The “Liberal Meetings in Dardha” tries to replicate the Mont Pelerin Society in Albania by promoting debates on liberalism with professors, journalists, political activists for 3 days in remote mountains of the country side.
Debate Club/Annual Championship
In cooperation with “Students for Liberty” the Foundation organizes and promotes Debate Clubs with students to empower them to become public speakers and identify those young people who want to contribute to society.
The Young Academic Network
The Young Academic Network was created based on the forms of Forums similar to “Clubs” organized in academic environment worldwide. The participation in these forums was opened specifically for all those academics either as attached to universities in the field of teaching or by simply sharing the same values based on principles that protect and are evoked also by the Foundation for Economic Freedom
”From Gjirokastra – Made in Gjirokastra”
This project is an initiative developed by the Foundation for Economic Freedom with the support of the Agency for the Promotion of Civil Society that aims to promote creativity and employment for the touristic market through the development of creative skills of young people in the town of Gjirokastra, supporting employment in the field of cultural heritage. Implementation of this project will provide entrepreneurs and local authorities’ alternative models of management and manufacturing products with cultural characteristics.
