The Free Market Road Show travelled to Zagreb, April 23rd

The EU rewards bad government

The message of freedom of the FMRS arrived to the Croatian capital last April 23rd.

The enormous audience was captivated by Prof. Dr. Erich Weede, who spoke about Europe in the context of the coming elections.

According to Weede, both the French President and the German Chancellor should be labeled as “extremists”. Why? Because: “Hollande and Merkel are extremists in disregarding the wellbeing of future generations”. He went on saying that “the EU rewards bad government” and that “we face a cartel of politicians in the main countries of Europe”.

Afterwards, Croatian Prof. Stephen Bartulica acknowledged that like in many post-communist societies “many members of our ‘capitalist’ class are products of the political intervention. They were not successful entrepreneurs but successful rent seekers”. On top of this, Bartulica said, “we do not have a free market in Croatia but rampant interference of the government in the economy”.

Finally, social entrepreneur Ante Lucic presented his platform to fight against “brain drain” in Croatia and to bring the diaspora back: “Mobility should be encouraged as a two-way-street. Educational and professional mobility should not become ‘brain drain’”.
